A CHOIR described as one of the finest in the UK will perform in Elgin Town Hall later this month.

The Fron Male Voice Choir will be in Moray on Sunday, October 27 to sing in concert with Elgin ladies choir Cantare.

The Welsh group has won dozens of awards and made many recordings including the Voices of Valley series of five albums, topping the classical charts and achieving worldwide sales of over 2 million to date.

They have toured extensively and performed on some of the world's most famous stages.

Their visit to Elgin is part of a short Scottish tour, which also includes dates in Strathpeffer and Edinburgh's Kings Hall.

Delighted to be joining them in concert are members of Cantare – which celebrated its 15th anniversary in January.

The group was formed in Elgin in 2004 to bring together friends with a shared passion for singing.

From humble beginnings, there are now 115 women who meet every Wednesday evening for rehearsal with musical director Jane Ferguson and accompanist Sheena Ledingham.

As well as packing out local concerts, they have sung on stage at the Royal Albert Hall and in the Usher Hall and have raised more than £100,000 for charities.

Support for the special choral performance will come from local musicians and tickets are available online via the Elgin Town Hall website or from Cathedral Windows, on Elgin's High Street.
