A disqualified motorist who was caught behind the wheel has seen his driving ban increased.

Joseph Murray was pulled over by the police on the A96 near to the Findhorn Bridge.

The 31-year-old, whose address was given as Corries Way, Forres, appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court.

He admitted two charges of driving without a valid licence or insurance on September 16 last year.

Defence solicitor Grant Daglish said: "He took a chance. He describes that now as being foolish."

The court heard that Murray's driving ban had been been due to come to an end this June.

Sheriff David Sutherland disqualified him for a further six months.

A £420 fine was also imposed to be paid at the rate of £50/month.
