Little feet in can make a big difference in Moray this June as Barnardo's Big Toddle returns to raise money and transform the lives of vulnerable children.

The Big Toddle is a sponsor walk for children under the age of five, with children, families and nurseries in Moray encouraged to get involved.

Last year an incredible £231,512 was raised as 2,993 nurseries and 4,300 individual groups hold their own toddles. Thousands of children took part to raise money for the United Kingdom’s largest children’s charity, which supports more than 301,000 children, young people, parents and carers.

Barnardo’s Scotland works with more than 16,300 children and young people in over 140 specialised community-based services across Scotland, and more than 100 shops across the country directly supporting the services.

Their work includes fostering and adoption services and support, helping children break free from sexual exploitation; supporting young carers, helping young people in to employment and helping children living in poverty.

The charity is again calling for children, families and nurseries to join in the fun as Big Toddle Week returns, this time with an animal, theme from June 24-30.

However, if the dates aren’t convenient, participants can toddle whenever suits them best.

Barnardo’s Scotland director Martin Crewe, said: "The Big Toddle is a great opportunity for the under-5s to have fun with their friends and families and raise money to help vulnerable children.

"Whether you organise your own Big Toddle or take part in an event organised at nursery or playgroup, it is sure to be a really fun day.

"We are really grateful for everyone taking part as the money raised helps our vital services continue to support hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers."

There are lots of free activities, resources and ideas for games to help little ones enjoy this year’s theme on the Barnardo's website – which can be found at www.barnardos.org.uk/scotland.
