Nostalgic nineties energy made waves across Cooper Park as pop-culture icon, Peter Andre, owned the stage at MacMoray music festival on Saturday.

Andre was joined on the stage by good friend Ryan Jackson, a choreographer who featured alongside him in the ‘Mysterious Girl’ music video.

Together, they transported the crowd through different eras of pop, by playing classics like ‘No-Diggity’ and ‘Mysterious Girl’, as well as setting the mood with reggae classics like ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley.

Talking at the festival, Peter Andre said: “We like to give the audience lots of different sounds. We played ‘Natural’ which was a top-five hit but we don’t always do that.

“We add other songs in there that everyone knows so it fits all ages.”

The audience were grooving with the performance, and one local lady even threw a baby grow on stage, hand-embroidered with the name ‘Arabella’.

Peter and his wife, Dr Emily MacDonagh, welcome their baby girl in April, and he thanked the women on stage for the thoughtful gift.

He said: “This is so cute! So cute! They even spelt it correctly cause most people put a double R – really so kind.”

It was Andre’s first time in Moray, and he expressed how captivated he was by the natural beauty of the north-east.

“When we were driving here today, I said to my driver, ‘My God, this is beautiful’.

“I can understand why people would want to live here; beautiful, lush, green, gorgeous! I can imagine when it is sunny it is absolutely perfect.”

One thing is for sure, the 51-year-old is not going anywhere anytime soon, his love for performing is still as prominent as it was 20 years ago.

“I love dancing at 51 because I remember my friends used to say, ‘dance in your twenties because when you’re older you won’t be able to’, but me and Mike were like, “let’s go!”.

“I’ve still got the same energy; I could do a full two-hour set. I feel as good as I did back in the day!”

Peter is currently starring in the new rendition of Grease the Musical, and though there are currently no dates planned for Scotland, the popstar said he would love to get some added on.
