The supergroup, formed by long time pals Brian McFadden, of Westlife and Duffy, of Boyzone were the penultimate act at the festival and were thrilled by the reception of the crowd.

The duo entertained the 10,000 strong audience with nineties and noughties pop hits, with audience members of all generations singing along to hits hits “Uptown Girl” and “Love Me For A Reason”.

After the show Boyzlife’s Keith Duffy said: “Tonight was absolutely brilliant. Most of these gigs are based on the energy of the audience and the audience were great.

“We do a lot of gigs with our full band and we much prefer having a back line of musicians behind us. We did a gig in Manchester last night with our full live band and that normally helps carry you through – but that was a small audience compared to today. Although we do miss the band, the audience were really loud and energetic and that really motivates us to put in 120 per cent and have a good night.”

The singer also praised the family friendly nature of the festival and was glad to see the music of the two groups were being passed to the next generation. He said: “There were a lot of kids out there, which we’re not really used to. They were all singing along, their mammies or grannies must have been Boyzone or Westlife fans and they’ve probably been tortured with our music being played in the house.

“It’s really good to see, on our last tour we had a woman who had bought herself a ticket for her 90th birthday and a little six year old girl, they were both at our meet and greet and they were sat near each other during the show, I could see them in the front row, they had 84 years of difference and both of them knew the words for all our songs – it’s a great legacy.”
