THREE friends will reach new heights this weekend with a charity skydive in memory of a Forres teenager.

Friends Alyson, Roisin and Rachel are skydiving for Quarriers in memory of Roisin's step-sister Caitlin.

15-year-old Caitlin Dustan, who passed away earlier this year, received support from the Epilepsy Outreach team at Quarriers Moray. To honour Caitlin's life, her step-sister Roisin Kinsella and friends Rachel Fraser and Alyson MacKenzie will take to the skies on Saturday to fund-raise for the charity.

Alyson said: "My friend Roisin's step-sister Caitlin sadly passed away on May 6 this year, she was quite involved with Quarriers and they had a huge impact on Caitlin’s care over the years - so we wanted to give something back.

"Roisin had been given a voucher for a skydive for Christmas from her partner and when Caitlin passed away she decided to use it to raise money for charity. She put a post on Facebook to say she was thinking of doing it and Rachel and I both offered to do it with her."

The trio have managed to raise a large amount for the charity ahead of their skydive on August 27.

Alyson, who works for Gordon & MacPhail has raised more than £1500, with the company adding an extra thousand pounds to her end total through their donation matching scheme. Care-worker Rachel and Roisin, who works at Johnstons Woolen Mill have both also received lots of support and donations from their colleagues and friends with the trio's combined donations still to be totalled up.

Although none of the friends have ever skydived before, they are all looking forward to the day.

Alyson said: "I'm really pleased the we decided to do it, we've managed to raise quite a bit of money so far which is fantastic for Quarriers and for Caitlin's family.

"We're all quite apprehensive about the skydive on Saturday, but we're really excited at the same time and we're so grateful for all the sponsorship money we have received."
