BREAKING: Body found in Elgin burn by A96 in Moray

A MAN'S body has been found in the Tyock Burn by the A96 in Elgin.

Police have confirmed they received a report of a body beside a road bridge on East Road near Harry Gow's and the Stagecoach Depot, at around 3.05pm today (October 23).

Emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance crews remain on the scene.

As a result of the incident, the A96 is closed between Tyock Industrial Estate and Ashgrove Road. The road will reopen once investigations have been carried out.

The road closure, in both directions, is currently causing extensive delays.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Monday, October 23 2023, police received a report of a man’s body within Tyock Burn near to East Road, Elgin.

“Emergency services are at the scene and the A96 is currently closed in both directions between Tyock Industrial Estate and Ashgrove Road."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We responded to a call on Monday, 23 October at 3.10pm.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances and one water rescue crew to East Road, Elgin to assist emergency service partners."

The police spokesperson confirmed that no further information is available at this time.
