BREAKING: Flooding affects A96 and causes Moray power cuts

HEAVY Moray rainfall has caused dozens to lose power and caused traffic disruption.

SSEN, on its PowerTrack website, confirmed that five postcode areas and an estimated 45 customers have been impacted by an ongoing power cut.

As of 5.35pm, an engineer was not on site and no expected time for power to be restored had been set.

Those homes impacted are north west of Elgin, apparently including parts of the Quarrywood and Kintrae areas.

Small sections of the A96 have also been flooded, with Traffic Scotland's live traffic map, showing shifting areas of "heavy queuing traffic" west of Elgin.

Posting on Twitter (X) at 4.45pm, Traffic Scotland said: "Current delays approximately 15 minutes eastbound.

"The local road operating company are en-route due to reports of flooding in the area."

"Please take care"

In an update at 5.15pm, the organisation confirmed that: "Delays now easing in the area but please continue to take care due to reports of flooding in the area."

A96 road maintenance firm Amey confirmed, via a Twitter post at 4.52pm, that there was a "report of flooding in the area", adding that "Amey are en-route. Please take care on approach."
