Bridge near Birnie Kirk to close for five days

The Cloddach Bridge on the Birnie road will close for five days later this month.

Moray Council says the closure – from the week starting on Monday, July 19 – is so that new gantries can be built to limit the height of vehicles crossing the bridge.

The bridge has recently had its weight limit reduced from 7.5 tonnes to 3 tonnes.

This followed concerns raised by local residents that the large volume of water passing through the central channel of the bridge was undercutting the structure.
