TUG of War teams will gather in Elgin this weekend for the British and Irish Outdoor Tug of War Championship.
The championship will take place at Cooper Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 12 and 13. The event holds special significance to the Elgin team who will compete for Scotland on the first day, before taking on other teams as a club on Sunday.
Elgin Tug O War Team member Jamie Wiseman said: "It's nice to be holding the championship closer to home. Hopefully we'll get a lot of people in Elgin to come down and watch it and cheer us towards a medal."
Both days of the competition are free to attend and will run from 9.30am till around 5pm. There will be food and drink vans and spectators can have a go at the Tug of War simulator or lifting the Atlas Stones, with prizes for the most stones lifted in the fastest time.
Mairi Fisher from The Scottish Tug of War Association said: "We're all very excited and are really looking forward to bringing the championships to Elgin."
The Elgin team will be joined by three other Scottish teams from Cornhill, Brechin and Ayrshire.
After competing at several Highland games over the summer along with the Scottish championships last month, where they were selected to compete from Scotland, the team have had plenty of practice and are looking forward to doing Elgin proud.
Jamie added: "Hopefully we can take home a medal and make a good go at it in our home town."
