LIGHT has been shed on an old photo published online in the Northern Scot – thanks to a reader in the USA.

This old photo has now been identified as having been taken at FAL Propellers at March Road.
This old photo has now been identified as having been taken at FAL Propellers at March Road.

One of the photos included in our Stroll through 1970s Buckie feature, which was posted online on Saturday, July 10, depicted a presentation at what appeared to be a factory, probably in the early 1970s.

However, that was all that was known about it.

Step forward Buckie ex-pat John Guild, who lives in Apple Valley, California.

He said: "The photo taken at FAL propeller works on March Road in Buckie.

"The man in cap was my uncle Fred A Langnes. Also in the photo are his sons Frank and Stevie Langnes and son-in-law Rab Taylor.

"They are all of Buckie."

If you recognise people in one of the Stroll through 1970s Buckie photos, or can provide some background as to the occasion captured on camera, email newsdesk@northern-scot.co.uk

Also, if you have a photo taken before 2000 that you would like to share with Northern Scot readers, please send it to the above email.

Stroll through 1970s Buckie is run in conjunction with Buckie and District Fishing Heritage Centre Ltd. The centre has an extensive collection of photos from Buckie and the surrounding area.

Photos appearing in the feature are drawn from Advertiser and heritage centre archives.
