Buckie RNLI lifeboat team to give water safety talk at Cullen Sea School

THE Buckie RNLI lifeboat team are holding an online talk as part of an ongoing series.

Water safety officer Emma Williams and coxswain Davie Grant will share a lifesaving water safety message on Tuesday, February 15, while providing an insight into the RNLI Buckie boat and station.

The station operates a Severn class lifeboat, the largest type, and is an important landmark on the Buckie shoreline.

Cullen Sea School is hosting the 7pm talk as part of an ongoing series. The school's motto is 'For All to Sea' and it aims to make water activities accessible to all.

David McCubbin, development and marketing officer for the school said: "Lifeboats have been launching into the waters of the Moray Firth for over 145 years and the crews have been honoured with awards for gallantry."

Cullen Sea School is run by the Three Harbours Association, a group helping develop former fishing harbours at Cullen, Portknockie and Findochty.

Despite a difficult pandemic, Cullen Sea School's 2021 season was its most popular to date with 2449 participants enjoying activities including beach cleans, coastal rowing, photography session, paddlesports and sailing.

As spring approaches, the sea school is working hard on its 2022 programme of water sports activities to be announced in early February.
