Bumper response sees hundreds sign up for Buckie Classic Car Show 2024

A BUMPER turnout is on the cards for this year’s Buckie Classic Car Show.
Organisers were bowled over by the response from exhibitors when entries opened on April 9.
Show chairman John Clark said: “We opened for entries at 10am on April 9 and within 15mins we had 100 entries then by 2pm we had just over 450 entries.
“By 6pm the same night we had 640 entries and had no option but close for entries. To put that in contrast to last year’s show we had 500 entries in seven days and 700 entries in a month but this year entries were filled in eight hours.
Mr Clark continued: “This year we’re celebrating 50 years of the VW Golf which has a special Scottish connection to a particular model.
”It’s also the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang and we’re holding a special theme for rare vehicles called ‘cars you just don’t see anymore’ which is for cars that were mass produced and were all over the roads but now you just don’t see them any more.
”We’ve also got a few surprise awards in store for owners of the vehicles. We’ve a huge array of trade stands with local businesses bringing out some of their finest examples of classic, modern classic and future classic vehicles to show the public.
Mr Clark added: “All in all we have a great day planned but if anyone who’s not too internet savvy has not managed to get their vehicle entered should give us a phone or get a friend or family member to pop us a email and we will endeavour to get you entered.
”Social exclusion is not fine and for some folk we don’t want them to miss out on attending.”
The car show is set to take place on Sunday, August 25 at Linzee Gordon Park, running from 10am to around 4pm. For more details and updates, visit the event’s Facebook page.
