Burger King thief jailed for 30 months

A THIEF who stole more than £1600 from Burger King in Elgin has been jailed.

Robert Scott Lawson (40) was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment, backdated to October, at Elgin Sheriff Court on Friday, February 7.

In October last year, Mr Lawson, masked and acting with another person, entered Burger King on Ashgrove Road and assaulted three members of staff before demanding to be taken to the safe.

Mr Lawson left the premises with £1630, but is understood to have dropped the money on exiting the building before being arrested.
