Elgin High Street has been hit by the closure of another well known store this week.

.

Burton, the clothes shop, has shut permanently with, it is understood, the loss of six jobs.

The Arcadia group which owns Burton went into administration in November.

Last week the Burton online brand was bought by Boohoo.

However the deal did not include any of Burton's 214 shops nor the 2450 people employed in them.

Burton follows in the wake of several other closures on Elgin High Street due to the pandemic and lockdown, including Clarks shoe shop, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and the GAME computer game shop.
