THE Arrows Service in Elgin has hit a new target with the opening of a community café – aptly known as The Bow.

Its name was suggested by Sam Scott, 40, from Elgin, who entered a competition to christen the new facility.

The café will be a further addition to the services and help available for people dealing with substance or alcohol use in Moray.

The challenge to name the café attracted dozens of entries – but Sam’s clever choice was voted the winner.

Sam, who got a £50 Tesco voucher and a box of chocolates, said: “This is the first thing I have ever won in my life. I'm grateful to all the staff for all the help and support I have had since coming to Arrows."

Situated in The Square, 61-63 High Street, The Bow is set to open at the end of the month.

As well as serve food to the general public it will also host music and art sessions, support groups and acupuncture as well as other initiatives already provided by Arrows to those experiencing addiction issues.

Arrows is run by Quarriers – one of Scotland’s leading social care charities.

The Bow is currently looking for people to help in the kitchen, serve in the café, welcome people into the community space, help maintain the environment or join its steering group.
