A MAJOR carnival is planned this year to mark the 20th anniversary of the Lossiemouth Christmas lights switch-on.

Entertainment will run all afternoon for the event on Saturday, November 30, including a funfair, local bands, the military choir, brass band and displays of dancing, martial arts and aerial gymnastics.

Families will be able to visit Santa and his helpers in the Grotto – which will be located in the Osprey Housing building next to Lloyds Pharmacy. Slots to see Santa must be pre-booked via the main Lossiemouth Christmas Lights Facebook page. Slots between 10am-4pm on the day will become available in due course. Families will receive a professional festive photograph as well as a present for good girls and boys.

There will be craft and charity stalls selling Christmas gifts, and a selection of food stalls. Paw Patrol will also be on hand to entertain children as well as face painting and more.

Following the entertainment there will be a torch-lit procession including the RAF pipe band, floats made by local businesses and groups, and fancy dress.

The procession will start at Lossiemouth Community Centre and travel down the esplanade for the highlight – the big lights switch-on.

The committee are inviting more organisations – big and small – to put their names forward to enter a float for the parade.

Should your organisation, group or business be interested in entering a parade float, call Iain Allan-Riddoch on 07980 122718.
