A NORTHERN Scot reader is seeking help in identifying people in a photograph believed to have been taken in Elgin during the 1940s.
Stuart Patton was going through old photos when he found two of his mother at an event, which he thinks took place in Cooper Park in the 1940s.
However, he doesn't know what the event in question could be – and the date and location are educated guesses.
"Both photos show my late mother, Barbara Gentleman Smith, who was from Elgin," Stuart said.
"She lived at 15 Collie Street until 1953 when she married my late dad who was a soldier stationed at Pinefield Camp. They then moved to Germany.
"I’m guessing the event was sometime in the 1940s. The photos show some sitting people, some in party hats, with others behind them watching something.
"Again I’m guessing Elgin, perhaps Cooper Park, but I don’t have any proof.
"In the larger photo, mum is sitting centrally with what looks like a shiny party hat on the back of her head and wearing a shiny jacket.
"In the smaller, she is behind the smiling woman who is in both photos. There is another woman on her left who seems to be standing with her right hand on mum’s shoulder."
