CLAN Cancer Support is appealing for support volunteers across its locations in Moray to help welcome back new and existing clients.

The charity is currently facing a serious lack of volunteers after a difficult 18 month period.

Clan are looking to bring back face-to-face emotional support and open drop-ins which are crucial for cancer patients and their families.

Support volunteers will receive full listening and support training and ongoing supervision.

Kay Johnston was recently appointed as Clan's Head of Cancer Support Services for the area. Ms Johnston will help develop Clan's centres in Elgin, Lossiemouth and Forres.

She said: "We are so proud of our volunteers across the different communities as they provide important support for people that are affected by cancer. Demand for our services has grown, along with bringing back our face-to-face appointments. We are also committed to expanding the range of services we offer but we cannot do this alone.

"I would urge anyone who has thought about volunteering before or anyone who is looking for a new challenge to get in touch and find out more about Clan and our volunteers. It's the perfect way to reconnect with people and make new friends whilst helping make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer."

Clan's latest campaign, Power to Help, looks to encourage people to help those affected with a cancer diagnosis through volunteering in the community.

Dr Colette Backwell, Chief Executive of Clan, said: "Clan has been here for people affected by cancer throughout the pandemic, and now we want to empower you to make a difference. We couldn't offer our professional cancer support services without your generosity through volunteering your time to support those that need it.

"With cancer services and diagnosis ramping up, we want to spread our message that we are looking for volunteers throughout the communities that have the Power to Help."

Clan has a range of volunteer roles available in their Moray centres.
