THERE will be three new festive trees in Buckie Cluny's Square – love, hope and peace.

All are welcome at the Buckie candlelight service on December 15.
All are welcome at the Buckie candlelight service on December 15.

A candlelight service on Thursday, December 15 will see members of the public invited to decorate the trees with message baubles.

The event is being run by community group Buckie's Roots and will see Buckie and District Community Choir leading the service. There will be a chance for the audience gathered in the square to join in with a selection of timeless, popular Christmas carols.

Joining in the celebrations will be special guest for the evening, the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson.

The service gets under way at 6.30pm with a warm invitation extended to all to come along and be part of the event.

The candlelight service marks the end of a busy year for Buckie's Roots. Among their many triumphs over the course of the last 12 months, the group were the only organisation within historic Banffshire to receive one of the 'Tree of Trees' from the Queen's Green Canopy project, part of the platinum jubilee celebrations.
