A car rally which sets off each year from Elgin has raised an estimated record sum of £5000 this time round.

This past Saturday saw a total of 43 vehicles congregate in the town centre for The Cannonbawz Run.

The two-day event was founded in 2015 by Lossie paramedic Kris O'Neil and his younger brother Liam.

Sadly, Liam passed away two years ago at the age of 38 due to a rare medical condition called Marfan Syndrome.

However, Cannonbawz continues as before to raise money in order to fund research.

Kris said: "It's a fun family event. People bring their kids and they come along with their dogs. Everyone had a very good time."

The participants where waved off from Elgin by Kris' 10-month-old son who he's named Liam in his brother's honour.

After making their way to Applecross for lunch, they then stayed overnight at Ullapool where a charity auction was held.

In addition to the Marfan Trust the other charities being supported this year were Race Against Dementia and the Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation.

Although Cannonbawz is the main rally of the year, it's far from the only occasion when Kris and many of the others get together.

In May they do the NE250, an NC500-style north east road trip.

Added to that there's The Irn Bru Run, The Bandit Run and Thunderbawz, the last of which goes to Glencoe where part of the James Bond movie Skyfall was filmed.
