AN ELGIN care home has been told to make urgent improvements.
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Spynie Care Home after a recent inspection raised serious concerns.
Operator Intobeige Ltd has been warned that failure to raise standards within the next two months could result in its registration being removed.
The notice stated: "Service users must receive high quality care and support which meets their health, safety and wellbeing needs.
"In order to achieve this, you must always ensure that there are suitably qualified and competent staff working in and deployed across the service in such numbers as are appropriate for the health, welfare and safety of people."
The notice lists six areas which require urgent improvement.
These include ensuring residents’ health, safety and well-being needs are met in a manner which promotes their dignity and choice.
Management must ensure there is leadership of each and every shift to deploy staff to work in specific areas in the home according to their skills and experience and service users’ needs.
They must also monitor the delivery of care to service users given by staff and ensure that service users are receiving a level of care that is sufficient to meet their needs.
The notice also says management must implement effective arrangements for the management of medication as well as the management of pressure area care and wounds.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: "The Improvement Notice we have issued clearly lays out the improvements we must see so that the care experienced by people improves quickly.
"We will visit this care home again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.

Usually, an inspection report would be published after an unannounced visit with a four to six week period. However, if there are sufficient concerns, an Improvement Notice is issued to bring about urgent action.
