A CAPACITY crowd gathered in Elgin to get hairdressing tips from an industry giant.

Leading stylist Nicky Clarke led a masterclass with staff and students at Moray College UHI before an evening presentation which attracted a sell-out audience of more than 100 people.

During the session, the celebrity guest presented current hairdressing trends and a show reel of his career before finishing with a question and answer session.

While the event was free, donations were taken on the door for The Oaks Specialist Palliative Care Unit.

Hazel Maguire, Moray College UHI Hairdressing lecturer, said: "We were delighted to welcome Nicky Clarke and the Wella Team to the college.

"It was a fantastic event for our staff, students and local industry to get an insight into his successful career and current hair trends.

"Our staff and students also benefited from an intimate masterclass.

"We raised a fantastic £534.33 for The Oaks Specialist Palliative Care Unit with donations from everyone who attended the evening event."

Clarke, who is known for styling celebrities as well as for his own television appearances, received an OBE in February 2008 in recognition of more than 30 years of service to the hair-styling industry.
