THERE will be an opportunity for some of Moray's youngest children to meet Santa in Elgin next weekend.

Moray Sports Centre is set to host Elgin Christmas Fayre – run by Moray Markets – for the first time on Saturday, December 11, between 10am and 4pm.

Santa will be in his grotto at the sports centre throughout the day, and there will be plenty of other things going on to keep the full family entertained.

There are set to be more than 50 stalls, a stand for Sugar Skull Face Painting and a festive performance from dance group SE Productions.

The event is being organised by Ericka Louise Murchison, from Lossiemouth. She is getting back into the events industry after having two children.

Elgin Christmas Fayre follows a similar, successful day run by Moray Markets in Inverness two weeks ago.

Ericka said: "Creating and organising these events really gives people an opportunity to shop local this Christmas.

"It has been a difficult time for everyone over the last few years with the global pandemic and these markets are taking off.

"Long may they continue."

Entry to the Christmas Fayre is free of charge – but it will cost £10.50 per child to meet Santa. No advanced booking is required.

There will also be the chance to support a local charity in Abbie's Sparkle – who support children affected by cancer.

Abbie's Sparkle will have a table offering help with Christmas wrapping and will also be selling lucky squares and charity merchandise.

It is hoped the charity can raise as much money as was raised for MFR Mission Christmas, who made £906 after hosting a raffle and toy stall at the Inverness event.

Calum's Kitchen, located within Moray Sports Centre, will be open for breakfast, lunch, cake and coffee.

Moray Sports Centre itself will have a fundraising stall, and will be advertising their gym and sports classes.
