A BBC sports commentator whose lockdown dog videos have made the nation smile has teamed up with a dogs charity for a nationwide contest.

Andrew Cotter has produced three hilarious lockdown videos in which he provides running commentary as his Labradors Olive and Mabel go about their daily lives.

He has now joined Dogs for Good to run the competition #winningfromhome.

Entrants are asked to post a video on Twitter, no more than 60 seconds long, of their own dog doing what they do best, using the hashtag #winningfromhome.

The winning video will be commentated on by Andrew.

Olive and Mabel have taken lockdown by storm accompanied by Andrew’s commentary for "The Dog’s Breakfast", "Game of Bones" and most recently, "The Walk of Shame" videos, which have clocked up 30 million views on Twitter.

Dogs for Good provides assistance dogs and community dogs for people living with disabilities and conditions including autism and dementia to help them live more independently.

The charity's chief executive, Peter Gorbing, said: "Andrew’s films have made us all smile, but what’s also clear is just how much dogs mean to so many of us at this time.

"We’re hoping that the competition will spread a bit of happiness during lockdown while raising some much-needed funds and awareness of Dogs for Good during this difficult time."

Andrew said: "The work Dogs for Good undertakes is life-changing, powerful and something I’m really happy to support.

"I’m also hoping they’ll be able to give me a few training tips for Olive and Mabel – although that ship may have already sailed."

The competition closes on Sunday, May 17. Entry is free but Dogs for Good would greatly appreciate a voluntary donation of £2.
