A GROUP of singing friends from Moray have donated £450 to charity following a musical afternoon tea.

The Dotty Crotchets presented A Touch of Nostalgia gathering in Lossiemouth in April, which featured music from WWI and WWII.

That raised around £900 and half the proceeds have now been handed to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Dotty Crotchets is made up of sopranos Helen McKellar and Maureen Halkett, tenor Douglas Clark, pianist Clare Pennt and flautist, pianist and alto Rosemary Anderson.

They came together thanks to a shared love of music and entertaining and the group now regularly performs at a wide range of events with music from across the genres.

Talent abounds and their repertoire covers everything from opera to Scottish traditional pieces and from light pop classics to sacred songs.

The donation is the latest made by the singing friends, who have previously presented money to a range of charities including CLAN and The Oaks.

The Crotchets have also gifted a nest of tables for the visitors' room at Ward 8 in Dr Gray's Hospital and have held a number of musical afternoon teas in support of various charity groups.
