Christmas relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions under consideration

A RELAXATION of Covid-19 restrictions is reported to be under consideration to allow families to come together at Christmas for a few days.
With the whole of England still under lockdown until December 2, 11 local authority areas in Scotland in level four lockdown for three weeks and Northern Ireland also due to go back into a two week lockdown from this Friday, all of these measures are in place to try and reduce the community transmission of the virus.
UK Government Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to announce a plan for Christmas, with discussions taking place with the devolved governments in Wales - which has just come out of a "firebreak lockdown", Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The BBC News has reported this evening that the proposal could see up to three households allowed to bubble for up to five days around the Christmas period.
On Sunday, the UK recorded another 18,662 new coronavirus cases and 398 deaths within 28 days of a positive test, bringing the UK total to 55,024.
The current level four lockdown impacting 11 areas in Scotland - which has seen the closure of non-essential retail, pubs and restaurants, except for takeaway food, is due to end on December 11.
Moray remains in tier 1 of the Scottish Government's lockdown restrictions, meaning all shops and restaurants are open, with pubs allowed to serve alcohol until 10pm. Meeting other people indoors in Moray is still not permitted unless you are bubbling with another household to provide health or child care.
