CLAP For Carers, which became a weekly ritual across the United Kingdom during the first coronavirus lockdown, is set to return under a new name.
The clap took place every Thursday night at 8pm for ten weeks after becoming a UK-wide trend when the country entered lockdown on March 23.
Now, the trend is being brought back by creator Annemarie Plas – who has changed the name to Clap For Heroes, to encompass more front-line workers.
Posting on social media, she said: "We are bringing back the 8pm applause.
"In our third lockdown I hope it can lift the spirit of all of us.
"Carers, teachers, home-schooling parents, those who shield and all who are pushing through this difficult time."
As before, the clap will go ahead at 8pm every Thursday with all encouraged to join in.
