MORAY has experienced an increase in injuries as the region grapples with a cold snap, bringing temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius over the past week.
The sudden drop in temperature has created hazardous conditions, with ice on the roads and pavements contributing to a rise in accidents and injuries reported across Moray.

Chief Nurse for Moray, Fiona Robertson said: "We noticed an increase in injuries due to icy surfaces earlier this week and would encourage people to avoid unnecessary journeys in wintery conditions."

She added: "Our best advice when it's icy is to 'walk like a penguin' (bend the knees, point feet slightly outwards, extend arms to each side) and look out for those within your communities who may be in need of a little extra support. If we all do our community bit, spreading grit on the paths around homes, it adds up to a lot.
"Preventing just one person from going without, falling or feeling isolated not only makes a huge difference to the individual and their family but also helps our health and social care teams who continue to go the extra mile during a particularly busy time.
"If you do sustain a non-life-threatening injury, please call NHS 24 on 111 in the first instance."
