Community pays tribute after tragic death of young Turriff woman Caroline Rennie in farming accident

Tributes have been paid to a young woman who died in a farming accident near Turriff on Saturday.

Caroline Rennie, aged 21, died as a result of the accident which occurred in a field just adjacent to the A947 Aberdeen to Banff around two miles south of the town.

Caroline was a well known members of Turriff Young Farmers’ Club.

Lorna Paterson, regional manager for the National Farmers Union Scotland in the north-east, said: "On behalf of NFUS and our members, we express our huge sympathy and commiserations towards the Rennie family and Caroline’s wide circle of friends.

"Caroline was so well respected by those who knew her.

"Her passion for our industry was second to none.

"She had such a bright future ahead and was a real entrepreneurial and dynamic female within the farming locality.

"This horrendously tragic situation is just the cruelest of the cruelest and everyone in the farming arena is shocked.

"Our hearts and thoughts lie with Caroline’s family at this harrowingly sad time."

In a statement made through Police Scotland her family said: "We are devastated by the loss of Caroline who was so full of life, full of fun and much loved.

"She was a great friend to everyone who knew her and will be much missed."

Detective inspector John Lumsden, from the north-east’s Criminal Investigation Department, said: "Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

"Our thoughts are very much with Caroline’s family at what is a very difficult time for all who knew her and officers are supporting her family.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
