THE strength of community spirit and support in Moray amid coronavirus has been praised by the area's MP Douglas Ross.

Mr Ross said “We are have been living with these severe restrictions for several weeks now and nearly every aspect of our daily lives has had to change, as the vast majority of us have never experienced anything like this before.

“I offer my condolences and sympathies to those that have lost loved ones to this deadly virus and I hope that those still struggling with the symptoms make a speedy recovery.

“These have been difficult times, particularly for the elderly, vulnerable, those self-isolating and of course our front line medical and care staff including our other emergency workers and essential workers in all trades.

"Each and every person fighting Covid-19 in whatever role is making an immense contribution to our combined effort and it is appreciated by each and every one of us.

“I’m heartened and encouraged by the strength of community across Moray as people volunteered for any role which supported the greater needs of those less able.

“Moray has responded in a stoic and resourceful manner to this war against a horrible and destructive virus. Yes, there will be difficult days and weeks to come, but here in Moray, if we continue to pay heed to the necessary precautions and advice, look out for each other and in these times of adversity, look for opportunity and positive change, then I’m convinced that we will come out of this a stronger, fairer and wiser society.

“Remember if we stay at home, protect our NHS, we will save lives.”
