CONCERNS have been raised about a "substantial blockage" of the River Lossie in Elgin.

The blockage, which is slightly upstream of the KFC on Linkwood Place, has been caused by rubbish, as well as large tree trunks and branches.

Fish like salmon usually start migrating upstream at this time of year, with concerns raised about their ability to do so due to this blockage.

Moray Council is aware of the current situation.

A spokesperson said: "No action is being taken on River Lossie but our flood management colleagues continue to monitor the situation and will action accordingly."
