Bridget said: “I am delighted to join the great team of people standing for the Moray Conservatives in the May election.

"I am representing my local ward and am looking forward to working with groups and individuals in the area.

“My priorities are a mix of personal, ward and wider issues which we face. Personally, I am committed to improving services for vulnerable people because of the experience I have with supporting my disabled son.

“Heldon and Laich is such a diverse community, from the town to coastal villages to rural farms.

"This ward also connects into four out of eight secondary schools, so it is important to me that I support learning, teaching and education with our schools and our communities.

“I am looking forward to meeting you over the coming months of the campaign to listen to you and gain an understanding of your priorities."

Ms Mustard is so far the only candidate who has been announced as standing in Heldon and Laich, which includes Hopeman and Burghead.

Councillor James Allan currently represents the area for the Conservatives.

The party's Moray chairman Marc Macrae added: “Bridget comes with such a wealth of knowledge much of it gained from working in local government and if elected on May 5 will be a very strong voice for the Heldon and Laich ward.”

Local MP and Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross expressed his support for Bridget. He said: “Bridget has extensive experience in local government that will be crucial for the council over the coming years.

"Having worked for Moray Council in the past, she understands how to get things done for local people.

“She has a passion for ensuring that vulnerable people who need extra support receive adequate services and has experience in standing up for members of her family who have needed this support."
