Cooper Park aviary removed on grounds of "public safety"

THE aviary in Cooper Park has been demolished for "public safety" reasons, Moray Council has confirmed.

Work started yesterday (September 6) to remove the structure which the council says had become a target for vandalism after a period of neglect.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: “Very sadly the aviary had to be demolished on the grounds of public safety.

"We assessed the structures and found them to be in such an unsafe and dangerous state we had to fence it off.

"The aviary had been empty and unused for some time. It was sadly a target for vandalism and had suffered ongoing damage."
