Linkwood Medical Centre in Elgin says it has been forced to secure its front door due to the behaviour of two patients.

The centre says it was forced to act after the patients bypassed the reception desk and then coughed over a nurse.

A spokesperson said: "It is with regret that we have closed our front door.

"We are still open but this action is to enable us to screen patients before they enter the building.

"It follows two people not checking in and then coughing over the nurse that was attending them.

"Currently, we have four staff who have to isolate themselves.

"We cannot afford to lose more staff or clinicians unnecessarily, so please bear with us and stick to the guidelines.

"As a reminder, we are now in a coronavirus pandemic and under lockdown from the UK Government.

"Do not attend the practice unless you have a pre-booked appointment.

"Even then, if you develop a cough, fever, flu or cold symptoms then telephone us before attending."

"Prescription requests can be made over the telephone or by placing your repeat request slip in the box on the wall outside.

"NHS 111 are in the process of setting up a dedicated COVID19 service.

"We will let you know when that is up and running.

"Please help us to still be there for you when you need us the most."
