THE opening time of a public toilet in Buckie have been clarified.
Concerned constituents had got in touch with Moray MP Douglas Ross that the facility at Newlands Lane was only open restricted hours.
However, following enquiries a clearer picture has now emerged.
The toilets are opened in the mornings at around 8.30 during the week and 6am at the weekends, with the doors being closed at approximately 3.30pm on weekdays and 4.30pm at the weekends.
Repeated instances of vandalism, which have resulted in repair bills running to thousands of pounds, mean that the toilets have to be locked overnight.
A local volunteer previously opened and locked the facility but is no longer available and a replacement has not as yet been found.
Instead, the toilets are opened the mobile toilet attendant when he arrives to clean them and a member of the council's waste staff locks them at night.
Moray Council's Comfort Scheme provides an alternative to public toilets during business hours. Members of the public can use toilets in participating firms and organisations without having to pay for goods or services.
