Council seeks views on Moray Early Learning and Childcare

MORAY Council’s early years service is asking residents to contribute to its vision for the future.
As part of the Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) expansion, the central early years team has grown to support practitioner and manager roles in ELC settings across Moray.
The council is giving parents, carers, practitioners and stakeholders the first say in highlighting the values they view as important in ELC.
Early years service manager Hazel Sly said: "We know what we need to deliver in terms of national standards and we understand good practice – now we need to make sure that, while delivering on those, we meet the expectations of parents and carers.
"The best way we can find out what values practitioners, parents and carers see as important for us as early years specialists to uphold, is to ask.
"I look forward to seeing the responses to our survey and working with the team to embed these values within the wider ELC vision for Moray."
Chair of the council's Children and Young People’s Services Committee, Councillor Sonya Warren, added: "The investment in early years over the last three years has seen a concerted effort to close the attainment gap and reduce inequality, but these are not the only aims of the service.
"As a parent and grandparent, I know the values I appreciate in our ELC service ensure a safe and aspirational place for our children to grow up.
"I’m pleased families in Moray are able to have their say on the future vision for the service and I hope they take the opportunity given to them by completing the survey."
