MUSIC by Fauré and Rutter will be performed in Forres as part of a concert led by the popular Culbin Singers.

The May 11 choral showcase at St Laurence Church will include Rutter's Requiem as well as his anthem This is the Day, which was composed for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine.

Conductor Alistair Hardie said: "Someone once said that John Rutter’s music speaks to the soul. How true that is.

"He has a great gift for melody and that innate ability to write music which instantly appeals to the listener."

The concert, which begins at 7.30pm, is the culmination of many weeks of rehearsal for the choir's 80 members, following which they will enjoy a break over the summer months before resuming

rehearsals next September.

The Culbin Singers was founded in Forres in 1971 and was an amalgamation of members from a number of church choirs in the town.

It has undertaken just short of 130 public performances throughout its 47 years.

Tickets are available from choir members; the offices of R&R Urquhart Solicitors in Forres and Nairn; The Bookmark in Grantown-on-Spey; and by emailing alasdair@manachie.eclipse.co.uk.
