Cut loose with Elgin Musical Theatre's production of Footloose
AN acclaimed Moray drama group is set to bring their newest production to Elgin Town Hall.
After the success of last year's production of Sunshine on Leith, Elgin Musical Theatre are preparing to bring their new show, Footloose, to the stage.
Committee member Aidan Henderson said: "There are very high stakes for us this year.
"Our entire run of Sunshine on Leith was sold out last year and we had some of the best reviews we've ever received – so it's even more important to make sure the audience of Footloose has a great time."
Footloose is a musical based on the 1984 film of the same name and follows a city teenager who moves to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned, and his rebellious spirit shakes up the town.
Elgin Musical Theatre's production features a multi-generational cast, with group members aged between 16 and 80 and even members of the same family making up the 50 strong team. Dancers from Zodiac performing arts will also feature in the show.
The musical also features classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradi se, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose and promises to be a night of fun.
Aidan added: "There should be lots of songs that people will recognise and enjoy and more challenging and spectacular dancing, singing and acting than ever before.
"It will be a great night out for people and a chance for them shut away from everything, forget their worries and come to the theatre and enjoy themselves.
"I think Footloose will lift everyone's spirits in Elgin and I think everyone will enjoy it, no matter if they're five or 99 or somewhere in between, there's something for everyone in this show."
Footloose will run at Elgin Town Hall from March 6-9 with four evening performances taking place at 7.30pm, along with a matinee at 2pm on March 9. Tickets are on sale here.
