Speaking at First Minister’s Questions last Thursday, Mr Yousaf announced that Minister for Transport Fiona Hyslop will meet selected MSPs on January 25. Politicians will receive, the First Minister said: “a more detailed update on the scheme, along with details about how the review is being undertaken on the wider A96 corridor”.

He said: “As confirmed in our Programme for Government, we remain absolutely committed to improving the A96, including dualling Inverness to Nairn and the Nairn Bypass, which already has ministerial consent following that public local inquiry.”

Mentioning by name only the Inverness-Nairn section, including the Nairn Bypass, the First Minister failed to provide any details about the year-late A96 Corridor Review.

His statement came in response to a question by North East MSP Liam Kerr.
