A total of £14,000 was redirected from the Edintore wind farm community benefit fund to focus on the immediate hardships caused by the lockdown and restrictions on movement and work.

The clock is now ticking for potential applicants, with the deadline set to fall on Tuesday, June 30.

Applicants must be based or working in the area covered by the wind-farm community benefit fund.

This area includes Keith, Strathisla, Strathbogie, Dufftown and district, Cullen, Deskford, Buckie and district, Portknockie and Findochty.

Informal groups that do not have a constitution can apply, but need to provide details of two independent referees.

Eligible costs for grants include, among other things, buying essential supplies for households that are struggling financially, volunteer expenses, costs of leafleting or advertising the support being offered, equipment or materials needed to deliver support, befriending services and a contribution to running costs for this work.

The maximum grant awarded is £500.

Email info@reapscotland.org.uk for an application form, giving the name of the group applying, which area(s) support wil be provided to to and a brief outline of what support is being providing. Eligible applicants will be sent a short application form which can be completed and returned by email.

The process is designed to be quick and simple and the aim is to pay grants to successful applicants by bank transfer within a week. Groups can apply for costs already incurred from March 1 as well as for costs still to be paid.

Groups who are not sure if they are eligible should email info@reapscotland.org.uk or call (01542) 888070 for an informal discussion or leave a message and they will be called back.
