A Buckie woman raided £980 from the till while her accomplice distracted a supermarket worker.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Ellie-May Devlin (27) worked together with Jamie Easson (39) from Aberdeen to pull off the theft on January 21, 2021.

Easson made up a reason for the member of staff to come help her at rear of Portknockie's Spar shop.

Meanwhile, Devlin took the money from the till.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court that Devlin had twice entered the shop previously before the pair returned to commit the theft.

She added that, after realising what was happening, the staff member tried to stop Devlin from leaving with the money, but Easson came to assist her escape.

Devlin, of Well Road, and Easson, of Faulds Gate, Aberdeen, both pleaded guilty to committing theft.

Sentence on them was deferred until August 25 for a background report and restriction of liberty order assessment. Their bail was continued.
