Drivers warned of upcoming A96 closure near Huntly

Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements on the A96 to the north of Huntly between Monday, March 4 and Monday 11.

The £330,000 project, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will address defects on more than 700 metres of the A96 road surface near the village of Cairnie.

Work will take place between the Cairnie junction and 520 metres south of Windyraw junction.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential maintenance will be carried out initially under temporary traffic lights during weekdays, followed by a full weekend road closure.

The daytime temporary traffic lights will be in place from Monday 4 to Friday 8 between 9.15am and 3.30pm.

The full weekend road closure will be in place from 6.30pm on Friday 8 and 6.30am on Monday 11.

Northbound traffic will turn left onto the A920 at Huntly, proceeding onto the A941 at Dufftown and following the route to Craigellachie.

Traffic can then turn right onto the A95 and continue to Keith.

Southbound traffic will take the route in reverse.

All traffic management is scheduled to be removed by 6.30am on Monday 11.

Schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable..
