A MORAY woman who was caught driving while under the influence of drugs has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 12 months.

Corinne Younie (47), of Bynack Place, Forres, was caught weaving over the centrelines of the A95 near Aberlour at midnight on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Elgin Sheriff Court heard that she stopped at the mouth of a junction where she was found by police to have "glazed eyes" and slurred speech.

Procurator Fiscal Victoria Silver said: "She attracted the attention of police when weaving over the centrelines on the A95.

"The vehicle stopped beside Aberlour, parking on the junction. Younie was found with glazed eyes and slurring her words. She was judged to be unfit to drive through drugs."

Younie was taken to Elgin Police Station where, after a full search, she was found to be in possession of 8.1g of diamorphine.

In addition to a 12-month driving ban, Sheriff David Sutherland has made Younie subject to routine drug testing for the next 24 months, where she will be required to submit eight test samples a month.
