INVESTING in an electric scooter has helped a newsagent in Lossiemouth save on time and fuel costs.

Tony Rook, who owns Buckley's Newsagents on Queen Street in the town, decided to take the plunge and buy a scooter due to rising bills – and to help the environment.

"I've started doing the paper rounds on a scooter and it's reducing the time it takes for a delivery, while reducing my fuel bill and carbon footprint," Mr Rook said.

"I decided to invest in one of the scooters after reading about them in a magazine. It's a nippy little thing and I'm hoping to continue using it.

"The main reason was to reduce my carbon footprint, reduce fuel prices but over time the bike will pay for itself."

The bike cost £1740, and Mr Rook charges in a couple of hours after a morning round.

Mr Rook added: "It has reduced the time out because I don't have to go around the roads and can take shortcuts through alleyways.

"I'd definitely recommend other folk to do the same."
