Elgin Academy Head Teacher praises "amazing" pupil achievements at awards ceremony
PUPILS at Elgin Academy have been recognised for their hard work over the year.
The school held award ceremonies for both senior and junior pupils with students from each year receiving recognition for their achievements.
The school's top honours, the S5 and S6 Dux awards were given to Ena Saracevic and Vaughan Moyle respectively.
S5 Dux recipient Ena Saracevic said: "I was quite surprised when I found out I would be given the Dux award but I'm very thankful. My mum and dad were very happy when I won and they are both very proud of me."
Pupils were also issued attainment awards for their hard work.
Speaking at the ceremony, Head Teacher Kyle Scott said: "It is an incredible privilege and an honour to stand in front of you tonight as Head teacher of this amazing school.
"There are many things that make me so proud of our school, but without a shadow of a doubt the biggest thing is this group of young people that sit with us tonight. It is incredible to get to celebrate these individuals, both who they are and what they have achieved.
"Beyond our vision at Elgin Academy we are extremely proud of our 5 core values of Creativity, Respect, Independence, Service and Perseverance. As with our vision, I think tonight is a shining example of how deeply rooted these values are in our school. These fantastic young people really do embody and live these values every day in our school and tonight we celebrate the ways in which they have used these values to achieve amazing things."
