ELGIN Amateur Dramatics Society has released a play in a brand new format.

The group, which has struggled to meet due to coronavirus restrictions, has released a six-part play called Heroes in the format of a podcast.

Ian Glover, who wrote, directed, edited and features in the play, said this was a result of trying to come up with new ways to reach viewers – or, as they are now, listeners.

He said: "We have cobbled this together during the coronavirus lockdown, with all of us recording our parts in different places.

"After things closed down, we thought of doing a radio play as we didn't require an arena.

"It's certainly been an interesting experience and a learning curve figuring out how things work electronically but we have learned by our mistakes."

Heroes is set during the summer of 1985 as four friends attend the biggest concert ever, to that date, Live Aid.

The first part of the six-part show lasts ten minutes and was released on Tuesday, July 13, to coincidence with the 36th anniversary of that Live Aid concert.

The remaining segments will be released weekly and are available to listen to online on numerous streaming sites.

There is some adult material, including bad language, within the shows – with warnings listed before the shows start.
