A CREATIVE agency based in Elgin is celebrating a double success with a win at a whisky awards night.

Northport, a film-focused creative agency based based on Culbard Street, are celebrating a double win at the Icons of Whisky Awards held on Thursday, December 7, in Edinburgh’s Signet Library.

They achieved Digital Agency of the Year for their work on The Dalmore’s Cask Curation Series – with films shot across Scotland, Spain and Italy.

Northport followed that up with Advertising Agency of the Year Award for work across their whisky portfolio, including further projects with The Dalmore, Gordon and MacPhail and The Cairn.

The awards were accepted by company directors Tom Duncan and Dianne Stevenson, who formed Northport in 2017 and have grown their multi-disciplinary team to six. They are all based in Elgin with a wider freelance talent pool across Scotland.

The Northport team have completed projects around the globe with commissions in Hawaii, New York, Venice, Hong Kong and Japan.

They have recently wrapped production on an upcoming television campaign to help reinstate the maternity ward at Dr Gray’s Hospital, as well as a suite of 36 films for Inverness Castle.

Company co-director Dianne Stevenson said: “We are delighted with this recognition in what has been a watershed year for Northport.

"The whisky industry has supported us at every step as we build our creative team in Speyside. These awards reinforce our belief in quality and authentic film-making as a way to lead digital campaigns.”

Fellow company co-director Tom Duncan added: “Our mission is to be the destination studio for cinematic imagery in Speyside, establishing ourselves nationally and working internationally, all while growing a talent pipeline of young creatives here in Moray.

"We are lucky to work in the supportive culture of the whisky industry and learn from business leaders who continue to generate great economic value for the area.”

As winners at the Icons of Whisky Awards Scotland, Northport will now compete in the global finals held in London, March 2024.
