She will be taking up the new position on Monday, August 3 - she will be taking over from Gill Neill who is retiring - and is looking forward to the challenges the role will present.

Gill Neill, chief executive, said: “I am really thrilled that Gemma has accepted our offer to take up the position as manager. It was clear that she has a wealth of experience and I have no doubts she will enjoy the role.

"The business community are under a lot of additional pressures at the moment, and I am confident that we selected the right candidate for the post.

"We were really delighted with the quality of applications and the interview panel had a tough decision to make, but we know that Gemma will be a great asset to the BID members and a wonderful advocate for the city.

"Leaving BID was not a decision I made lightly, and it has offered me a huge amount of reassurance that Gemma is taking over. I wish her every success in the future.”
