The result of the vote among city centre businesses will be announced, in line with Scottish Government regulations, at 5.30pm in Elgin Library on Thursday.

The announcement will bring to an end a yearlong engagement campaign and six-week period during

which businesses in Elgin city centre voted on whether to retain or disband the BID Company.

Businesses still have until 5pm today (Wednesday) to cast their vote if they have not already done so.

Gill Neill, chief executive of Elgin BID, said: "The last 10 years has seen a huge amount of work undertaken in Elgin that has directly benefited our business members and the wider Elgin economy."
Elgin BID has been responsible for an increase in street sweeping, a seagull reduction initiative, small grant scheme for businesses to help with repairs and signage, an Elgin Gift Card scheme to encourage people to shop locally, annual business awards, co-ordinated marketing and investment in capital projects such as the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme.

Elgin BID works on behalf of 424 business members which all pay a levy towards the cost of operating the company.
